Today’s article will help you learn how to speed up Windows 10 so you can see greater productivity using your computer. The last thing online business owners want is a sluggish, virus laden computer. It prevents you from getting things done in your online business.
Technology involving PC hardware and software is improving and evolving in all directions, all the time. New operating system and third party apps, utilities, and new features are constantly emerging and it is a great thing to see. The graphics are better, logic is smarter, features are much more numerous indeed, even the sound is better, but at a significant cost.
With this sphere of growth and integration of features and increased complexity, there is a downside. Even though the specifications are so much better, the work that your computer now must do is much harder than in yesteryear.
Oftentimes, things we do on the PC seem to be either similar or even slower in apparent speed than five, even ten or more years ago.
Many people I know are nostalgic about the older windows versions of past times. They’ll mention how slow their brand new Windows 10 computer is in getting it to do what they want as compared to some of their long gone, now extinct computers from the past, which now run only in their mind memory.
Surprisingly, most of the stories involve Windows XP, followed by Windows 7, Windows 98, sometimes going all the way back to Windows 95 with their fond memories! I snap my fingers to wake them up and say, “Hey, it’s going to be okay.
There are things you can do to make your computer much better”. I do it for others daily and it never fails, because I know that Windows 10 has to be something for all different kinds of users and in that lies its strengths and weaknesses.
Its strength is that it has more capabilities and its weakness is that in offering so much to everybody, there are many more folds in it and things that can go wrong. That is why us professionals do so much reading, research, testing, and invest lots of time to fix these increasing number of things that go wrong as the complexity rises.
Here are 9 things that can be done quickly and easily to take care of your system and often either fix or buy more time to keep your computer running smoother and faster.
1. Windows 10 Errors – Check For and Repair Them
It is a waste of time to do a bunch of software fixes and tweaks on your PC only to find that the main issue of performance was due to a damaged hard drive or error prone RAM. It is worth it to check your system hardware as your first step. With free or built in Windows 10 software you cannot necessarily match a professional tech’s service, but more often than not, at least get the job done or buy some time. You may miss a diagnosis here and there but at least you did your due diligence in this area and it may just be enough to fix things up and cure your slowdown problem.

2. Uninstall Built-in and Unneeded Windows 10 Apps
It is recommended to do a system restore first by taking these steps:
- Left click start, type “restore” without quotes in the search box,
- Left click “Create a restore point”,
- Left click “Create” button towards bottom right area
- Left click start, type “appwiz” without quotes in the search box Go down the list and remove programs you’re sure you won’t need. Google search built in apps from hardware manufacture if needed to be sure, but most of the time it works out fine to uninstall most things from them. Make sure you check as sometimes there are functions that stop working which you may need or enjoy.
If things went too far and you didn’t want to lose certain apps/features run system restore again and select the restore point made from above. Difference is on the last step, left click on “System Restore” button instead of “Create” button. You should see the restore point date and time from the one you had just created.
You can start from the top again, noting which programs you want to keep, beforehand.
